Each patient’s background is unique and we strive to provide an individualized health plan for individuals seeking help at Lake Behavioral Health. Our physicians perform a comprehensive assessment and prescribe medications as needed. No two patients are alike, so physicians perform a thorough evaluation and consider a myriad of risk factors. Our ultimate goal is to provide patients with every resource possible to help foster successful recovery.
Based on the results of patient assessments, physicians take a deeper dive into a patient’s medical and personal histories in order to determine the best course of treatment. While some patients may benefit from treatment medications, others may experience adverse effects. Get in touch with us today if you or your loved one wants to learn more about our treatment programs.
Just like a normal visit to the doctor, our providers conduct an exam to check each patient’s vitals (weight, height, blood pressure, temperature) and perform other diagnostic tests, such as blood work or x-rays. After the physical exam, the doctor will ask the patient detailed questions about their symptoms, including how long the symptoms have occurred, their severity, and the frequency at which they happen. To decide on the best course of action, physicians also ask patients about their personal and family medical history.
During a mental health assessment, physicians use a manual called the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) to aid in the diagnosis. Other factors important for a diagnosis include the following.
